Ecological Textiles' nonwovens

Nonwovens, also known as non-woven fabrics, are considered as an innovative alternative to traditional woven fabrics. The nonwovens in the ECOLOGICAL TEXTILES collection are made of natural fibres. As far as possible, we take into account the origin of the materials and the way they are grown. Thus, the woollen nonwovens are produced relatively close to our warehouse (sometimes all production stages take place within a radius of a hundred kilometres), and both the cotton and hemp nonwovens are organic and GOTS-certified.

Nonwovens from natural fibers such as wool, hemp, and cotton, offer a wide range of applications and benefits.

Wool is renowned for its excellent insulation, moisture regulation, and fire resistance. It is commonly used in nonwovens for insulation materials, mattresses, and upholstery. The natural resilience of wool provides a comfortable and resilient texture, making it ideal for products where comfort plays a significant role.

Hemp fibers are rapidly gaining popularity due to their durability and eco-friendliness. Nonwovens made from hemp fibers are strong, breathable, and possess antibacterial properties. This makes them suitable for applications such as geotextiles, technical filters, construction materials, and interior decoration.

Cotton is the world's most widely used natural fiber and offers excellent properties for nonwovens. Organic cotton nonwovens have a soft texture, are skin-friendly, and have high absorbency. They are extensively used in hygienic products such as diapers, sanitary pads, and panty liners, as well as in medical applications, disposable clothing, and cleaning wipes.

Nonwovens are produced using various techniques. Most of the nonwovens in our collection are made by needle punching. This technology uses barbed needles to mechanically interlock the fibers, creating a denser and stronger nonwoven material.

The applications of nonwovens made from wool, hemp, and cotton are diverse and range from technical and industrial applications to consumer products. These nonwovens offer benefits such as durability, comfort, breathability, insulation, and absorbency.
