Eco-friendly water repellent fabrics

ECOLOGICAL TEXTILES offers canvas and gabardine with an eco-friendly water repellent finish, GOTS-certified. Plus an organic cotton poplin that was waxed (with bees wax).

• The organic cotton canvas and gabardine have been made water-repellent with an eco-friendly finish called Ruco Dry-Eco. This finish is totally compliant to the GOTS standard, which makes these fabrics ideal for eco-friendly jackets, bags and other outdoor applications. The fabrics are washable up to 10 times at 30 degrees Celcius and will retain their hydrophobic properties after being ironed or tumble dried. The producer indicates that after washing it ten times the fabric will gradually loose its water repellency although several tests indicate that the water repellency still works fine after washing it more often. The water repellent finish can resist abrasion and wearing, though it will dissolve by using softeners of drycleaning chemicals.
• The water repellent canvas is made in six different colours. In case you prefer another colour, this is possible for a production of 250 meter or more.
• The fabrics are made of Aegean organic cotton that was grown and processed in Western Turkey. The proximity of cotton farms and textile industry keeps the transportation costs and the eco footprint low. The fabrics are transported to the Netherlands by truck.
• Like all our cotton fabrics the water-repellent canvas is GOTS certified.
