Poplin from hemp and tencel with some stretch

Poplin from hemp, tencel and elastane for slimfitted summerwear
A light and stretchy chambray with a very soft touch and handle. The use of different coloured yarns in the warp and weft as well as the slightly irregular hemp yarns create a characteristic charm. With the addition of 2% elastane to this innovative blend of 54% hemp and 44% Tencel this beautiful fabric becomes a bit more stretchy and form retaining, making it even more suitable for slimfitted shirts and dresses. With the anti-bacterial and moisture absorbing properties of both the hemp and Tencel fibres it is ideal for summer collections as well as accessories.

  • stretchy and comfortable
  • unique material blend
  • innovative and contemporary

Wearing comfort
Hemp feels pleasant, can be worn directly on the skin, has good anti-bacterial and UV-resistant properties and is 100% biodegradable. Because it is a fiber that contains little air and has relatively little insulating properties, hemp always feels cool. Hemp has a high moisture-absorbing capacity and also easily releases the moisture to the outside air.
Tencel is soft, smooth and feels silk-like. It has good anti-bacterial and moisture-absorbing properties.

Origin of the material
The Tencel is produced by Lenzing. The hemp is grown in China, where the fabric is also woven in a mill which is affiliated with the Fair Wear foundation and complies to al European standards for dyes and chemicals used in the production proces.

Ecology
Hemp is a relatively easy to grow plant, which has hardly any natural enemies and does not need much water. The plant is therefore cultivated almost everywhere without using herbicides or insecticides.
Tencel (lyocell) is a man-made fiber, made from pulped wood - mostly eucalyptus. Unlike viscose this is done in a closed loop system. Tencel is 100% biodegradable, made from renewable sources, and compared to cotton the water use is small.
