CHAMBRAY FABRICS FROM ORGANIC COTTON, HEMP, TENCEL OR FROM ORGANIC WOOL AND LINEN
Chambray fabrics from Ecological Textiles
Chambray fabrics from Ecological Textiles are made from organic cotton, hemp, tencel and sometimes from organic wool with linen. The chambray resembles a denim in many ways: in both fabric warp and weft are different in color. Of course there are also differences.
Unlike denim, a chambray is woven in a plain weave, not a twill.
Both sides of the chambray look alike
The chambray is usually softer, smoother, lighter, more refined
Because of this, it can easily be used in more formal clothing such as shirts and suits
Historical fact: the chambray is named after the French town Cambrai, where the fabric seems to have its roots. Originally it was made from linen.
